BANDICOOT ROBOTS TO REPLACE MANUAL SCAVENGERS IN GOA

0

‘Bandicoot robots’ have been deployed in Goa to clean the underground drains that usually involved manual scavenging. Goa Government’s #MissionRoboHole will now see the ‘Bandicoot’ eliminate manual scavengers from this utterly humiliating practice and thus help rehabilitate the sanitary workers. Bandicoot is the world’s first manhole cleaning robot developed by national award winning startup Genrobotics under the ‘Make In India’ campaign. It uses robotics and AI to accomplish the tasks of efficient cleaning inside the manhole. It is equipped with special cameras and sensors to gauge the depth, presence of poisonous gases inside the manholes while the operators work from the ground level from the control panel.
