FC Goa were held to a goalless draw by Panjim Footballers in the CAM Goa Professional League at Nagoa ground, on Friday.
By virtue of this result, FC Goa moved to the top of the table with nine points after playing five games. This is the second draw for FC Goa. Meanwhile, Panjim Footballers move to five points from five games and stay in seventh position.
FC Goa’s Rayan Menezes was adjudged man-of-the match for his brilliant performance throughout the game. It was the defender who controlled the game for the young Gaurs from the back.
The first half was restricted to midfield battle, though Panjim had a shot on goal from the right flank when Aditya Salgaocar of FC Goa played a mis-pass in the centre. Malcom Gonsalves of Panjim intercepted the pass and played to Doyal, whose shot was straight at the goalkeeper.
In the second half, FC Goa came back stronger and initiated a series of chances but only to see them go waste with the Panjim backline led by Chandan, defending strongly.
FC Goa’s Delton Colaco missed a chance to score late in the game when he dribbled past the goalkeeper but failed to keep his shot in goal. Deep into the stoppage time, FC Goa’s Velroy missed another chance for his team as the match.
