Directorate of Social Welfare, Goa felicitated ‘Safai Karmacharis’ (sanitation workers) Corporation of City of Panaji, during the NAMASTE Day celebrations at Panaji.
Directorate of Social Welfare is the nodal office for the NAMASTE scheme (National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem) a central scheme launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The NAMASTE scheme ensures the safety and dignity of sanitation workers in India by promoting safe and mechanised sanitation practices.
Secretary of Social Welfare, Sarpreet Singh Gill, IAS, Director of Social Welfare, Ajit Panchwadkar were also present among others.
