CINEPHILE FILM CLUB TO SCREEN ITALIAN FILM ‘IL POSTINO’ ON THURSDAY, ‘THE PEACOCK’ SET FOR LAUNCH

PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen Italian film Il Postino (The Postman. 1994), on Thursday (25th August at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, here 6.30pm.

The screening will be preceded by the exclusive launch of the cultural magazine ‘The Peacock’ at 5.30 pm, at the hands of Sahitya Academy awardee Damodar Mauzo.

Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the Italian film, which earned 5 Oscar nominations. The film won the BAFTA for Best Foreign film and an Oscar for Best Music.

Duration: 1 hour, 48 minutes

Inspired by the 1985 novel Ardiente Paciencia (“Burning Patience”), Il Postino is a romantic comedy about a fictional story involving the famed poet Pablo Neruda and his friendship with Mario, the village postman. Neruda influences Mario in more ways than one and also helps his love life by helping him to express himself better, to the woman he loves.
