PANAJI: The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) and CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for Cooperation in Climate, Ocean and Earth Sciences.
The MoC effective for a period of five years was signed on 30th March, 2021, by President, JAMSTEC, Dr. Tadashi Matsunaga and Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO.
The MoC is the outcome of the joint coordinated efforts from Dr. Kanae Komaki, International Affairs Section, JAMSTEC, Sh.Venkat K., Collaborations Desk, CSIR-NIO and Dr. Anuradha Madhukar, International S&T Affairs Directorate, CSIR Hqrs.
JAMSTEC has been engaged in a variety of research and development activities as one of Japan’s research institutes covering a broad spectrum of marine science and technology.
CSIR-NIO by virtue of its systematic and focused research in the field of ocean data collection, environmental impact assessment, and ocean modeling, has maintained the highest standards in this domain too and hence this cooperation will now facilitate CSIR-NIO partnering JAMSTEC in the goal to develop an integrated and comprehensive understanding of the Ocean, Earth, and Life and the pursuit of ever-advanced theories to open new paradigms of research.
