COMING UP: ‘SUPER SUNDAY’ FOR GOA’S ENDURANCE CYCLISTS AS TRIGOA PLANS RIDES FOR NEWCOMERS & REGULARS

PANAJI: A ‘super Sunday’ is in the offing for Goa’s endurance cycling fraternity with events lined up for Brevet Randonneur Mondiaux (BRM) regulars and newcomers. TriGoa Foundation’s 2021 endurance cycling season begins on January 10 with 50kms, 100kms and 200kms cycle rides. 

According to a press release, the 200km BRM cycle ride will start at 6 am in Panaji and move along South Goa’s coastline till Cavelossim and turn into Caurem and Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. The cyclists will then ride from Margao-Borim-Loutolim-Old Goa to return to Panaji to complete the 200km ride in the stipulated time of 13:30 hours to qualify for a medal from Audax Club Parisien (ACP), France.

Likewise, the 100km Brevet Populaire (BP) cycle ride will start at 0615 hours in Panaji and cyclists will proceed towards Cortalim-Dabolim-Majorda-Betalbatim and turn into Margao-Borim-Loutolim-Old Goa to return to Panaji within the allotted time of 7:30 hours to qualify for a medal from Audax India Randonneurs (AIR).

While the TriGoa ‘Half-Century Ride’ will start at 06:30 hours in Panaji and cyclists will ride to St Jacinto Island and take a U-turn and return to Panaji within the allotted time of 4 hours to qualify for a medal from TriGoa. In this event catering to newcomers, a rider is required to be  at least 12 years old and those below 18 years of age; must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The 100km BP and 200km BRM are, however, open to 18-year-old and above riders only.
