The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed recently between Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) iON, is aimed at empowering the youth of Goa. The signing function took place at Kala Academy in Panaji.
The agreement supports the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by promoting technology in education and skill development. This initiative aims to create a skilled workforce by providing quality vocational training. During the event, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stressed how important these partnerships are for helping young people prepare for future challenges.
The MoU is an important step toward improving education in Goa, following the goals of NEP 2020. It ensures that young college students have access to learning that focuses on multiple subjects and job readiness. TCS iON offers a program called TCS iON Career Edge, which helps job-seekers develop important soft skills like communication, interview techniques, and professionalism. They also provide tools to help individuals identify their interests and suggest suitable careers. Additionally, TCS iON hosts webinars to explore various industries. Overall, TCS iON Career Edge is a structured online platform that helps students gain the skills they need to smoothly transition from education to professional life.
Smriti Muley from Tata Consultancy Services spoke at the function about the company’s goal to help improve job opportunities for youth. Secretary of Education, Prasad Lolayekar IAS, Director of Higher Education, Bhushan Savaikar, State Higher Education Council, DHE Prof. Niyan Marchon and representatives from TCS, including Harsh Nagpal, Akshay Deshpande and Raghav Mathur also graced the occasion of inking the MoU.
