Dr. K. B. Hedgewar Vidyalay, Ponda, emerged the champions at the 12th SRS Ponda Taluka School Chess Championship organised by SRS Vedic Mathematics Academy, Mangeshi, in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA); at Wagle High School, Mangeshi.
Dr. K. B. Hedgewar Vidyalay collected a tally of 9 ‘Match points’ and 16 ‘Game points’. In all, 17 schools took part. GVM’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir secured the runners-up position with 9 Match points and 15 Game points.
S.S. Samiti’s Smt. IVBD High School finished third, scoring 7 Match points and 13 Game points. Sharda English High School, Marcel; Vidhya Vruddhi School, Ponda; and G.V.M.’s A. J. De Almeida High School, were placed 4th to 6th respectively.
Trophies and certificates were presented by Sagar Sakordekar (PTCA President & Founder, Vedic Mathematics Academy). Amogh Namshiker (Arbiter and PTCA Secretary), Anand Kurtikar (Arbiter and PTCA Executive member), Mitasha Aigal (Headmistress, Wagle High School), Sanjay Nadkarni and Sandesh Naik (Jt. Secretary, PTCA), were also present.
