PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen ‘Irma La Douce’ (1963), on Thursday (30th June), at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, here at 6.30 pm.

Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the classic Billy Wilder film (English, with subtitles). The film stars Shirley Maclaine, Jack Lemmon and runs for a duration of 2 hours, 25 minutes.

One of the many great films that he made during his illustrious career, Irma La Douce is an adaptation of a French musical. With superlative performances by Shirley Maclaine and Jack Lemmon, this romantic comedy has Lemmon playing Nestor, a policeman who falls for Irma, who works in a red light area. At one point, he even starts doubling up as a wealthy client. The film was remade in Hindi as Manoranjan (1974), directed by Shammi Kapoor.
