ESG: CINEPHILE FILM CLUB TO SCREEN ‘PEDRO’ IN PRESENCE OF DEBUTANTE DIRECTOR NATESH HEGDE

PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen ‘Pedro’ an acclaimed Kannada film on 14th July, (Thursday) at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, here at 6.30 pm.

Sachin Chatte will host the screening of ‘Pedro’, directed by Natesh Hegde, who will be present for the screening; along with cinematographer Vikas Urs and editor Paresh Kamdar.

Pedro was selected for the Cannes film festival which got cancelled because of the pandemic – eventually. It premiered at the Busan International Film and was nominated for Best Film in the New Currents section. Since then, it has traveled to more than a dozen festivals worldwide. Among many laurels, the film won the Roberto Rossellini Award for Best Director at the Pingyao International Film Festival and Vetrimaran is presenting the film in India. The Kannada film with English subtitles, is of 1 hour and 40 minutes duration. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, states a press release.

Set in the picturesque countryside of rural Karnataka, Pedro is the debut feature of the 26 year old director. The story revolves around the main protagonist Pedro (Gopal Hegde, the director’s father) who is an electrician and whose life turns topsy-turvy after an unfortunate incident.
