Renowned singer Akshada Bandekar has hailed the frontline workers as ‘diyas’ in the ‘darkness’ of the pandemic as the Goan musical prodigy expressed her sentiments on www.livenewsgoa.com and extended greetings on the occasion of Diwali.

“To me the ‘Festival of Lights’, symbolises the removal of all kinds of darkness in our lives. It is a time of celebration of the victory of good over evil and the choice of hope over despair. This year especially, we’ve witnessed darkness in various forms. The entire world and all of humanity collectively came to a standstill, however we did not lose hope. Our frontline workers and healthcare officials have been our ‘Diyas’ (lamps) throughout the year, guiding us from darkness to the light,” says Akshada.

Here is Akshada wishing all a Happy Diwali in a melodious song.

Diwali has a special place in the heart of every Goan. And Akshada enjoys, waking up for the Brahma-muhurta, on Diwali day.

“Diwali brings to mind so many childhood memories. It’s hard to pick out a single one. The high excitement levels I experienced as a child and now as an adult are still pretty much the same. I enjoy most of all, waking up at 4 am and lighting ‘Diyas’ all around the house. It feels so peaceful and serene,” added Akshada.
