PANAJI: Geno Pharmaceuticals brand ambassador Anura Prabhu Desai from Ponda, won 2 silver medals and a bronze at the 68th All-India Railway Badminton Championship in Vishakapatnam.
In the team event, Anura’s Northern Railway team went down 1-2 in the finals to West Central Railway thereby securing a silver medal. Anura won the first singles tie against Shreyanshi Pardesi 21-19, 25-23. Anura partnering Kanika Kanwal in women’s doubles, lost against Shreyanshi and Bharti Pal 16-21, 21-14, 13-21 in the finals.
In the singles event, Anura secured silver medal as she lost in the final to Shreyanshi Pardesi 11-21,18-21. Earlier, in the quarter-finals she beat Vaishnavi Bhale 21-10, 21-13. In semi-final, she defeated Riya Mookeerjee 21- 11, 21-12.
In the mixed-doubles event, Anura and Bodhit Joshi clinched a bronze medal defeating Akshay Raut and Tapaswini Roy 21-18,21-11. They lost to Shreyanshi and Chirag Sen 21-8, 21-15 in the semi-finals.
