Goa’s rising talent and Ranji Trophy cricketer Mohit Redkar has been selected among ‘Standby players’ for India A squad for ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023.
Mohit, who has also been selected for High Performance Camp for Emerging Players 2023 to be conducted at NCA-Bangalore from August 17 to September 5, finds himself among Harsh Dubey, Nehal Wadhera and Snell Patel; as the 50-over format tournament to be played between eight Asian nations will be held from 13th to 23rd July in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The young off-spinner from Margao made an impressive debut in Ranji Trophy in the 2022-23 season, bagging 19 wickets in 7 matches. Mohit notched up two fifers, one each against Rajasthan and Kerala. The 22-year-old also showed his potential with the bat as he scored 238 runs in 7 matches at an average of 26.44. As such, Mohit’s potential has been noted by the Junior Cricket Committee, which has picked the India A squad announced today.
India A are placed in Group B with Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A while Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A and Oman A form Group A. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-final. The first semi-final will be contested between Group A topper against 2nd spot holder from Group B while the second semi-final will be contested between Group B topper and 2nd spot holder from Group A on 21st July. The final will take place on 23rd July.
