GOA’S RICH HERITAGE NEEDS PROTECTION, WHY ISN’T ARCHIVES DEPT ALERT? QUESTION HERITAGE PROMOTERS

Seen here are pictures and video from Sunday (Nov 29) when a group of people thought it was fine to cook and enjoy themselves in an outing at the heritage spot.

PANAJI: Goa’s heritage lovers are upset at the negligent attitude of the state archives department towards pre-historic Rock carvings at Ponsaimol in Sanguem taluka.

These heritage structures dated to about 10,000-8,500 yrs B.C, are the notified Protected Monuments of Goa. Yet people have been seen picnicking at the spot in the absence of deterrents to irresponsible acts.

The rules or code of conduct to follow at the site of ‘Protected Monuments’, need to be clearly adhered to and violators have to be punished, appeal the heritage promoters as “our priceless heritage is at stake.”
