GREEN GLOW ENVIRONMENTAL FESTIVAL: ENVIRONMENTALIST & CARTOONIST ALEXYZ TO BE CONFERRED ‘MARIA CLAUDETE PINTO MEMORIAL GREEN COMMITMENT AWARD’

Environmentalist and cartoonist, Alexyz Fernandes will be conferred the first ‘Maria Claudete Pinto Memorial Green Commitment Award’ at the environmental festival ‘Green Glow’ on Saturday (10 January 2026) in Panaji.

The one-day environmental festival is being organised by Green Ray Foundation in association with Goa State Biodiversity Board and Department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa.

Suhas Premkumar’s award-winning film, ‘Little Planet: A Tale of Frogs’ will be screened along with journalist-filmmaker, Arti Kulkarni’s documentary on Olive Ridley Turtles, ‘Turtles with Antenna’.

The event details were revealed on Wednesday at a press conference addressed by managing trustee  Tomazinho Cardozo, along with trustees – Pravin Sabnis and Willy Goes. They informed about the day-long activities which include the screening of two films, training of video editing skills, green skilling workshop, exhibition of climate change posters, wall-papers prepared by Eco Clubs of schools; prize distribution for EcoStar competition.

The awardee, Alexyz has given a consistent contribution to the cause of environment through his cartoon-art, journalism and innovative projects like the annual Plant Exhibition at Siolim.

Member Secretary of Goa State Biodiversity Board, Dr Pradeep Sarmokkadam will deliver the keynote address. A mobile video-editing workshop will be conducted by journalist Niraj Prabhu.
