PANAJI: Young director of Indian Panorama non-feature film ‘Bablu Babylon Se’ -Abhijeet Sarthi is sending a message of conservation of environment, through his satirical take on how the society is sandwiched between two choices.

“I had come across a poem about people coming to cut a tree to a village, but wanted to ward off the searing sun by taking refuge under it for time-being! That absurdity infused a concept in me that an interaction can stem out in a situation like this between those who want to cut the tree and the other front that wants to protect it from being felled,” revealed Abhijeet Sarthi, who is from Raipur-Chhattisgarh and shot the short film in his home town.

Abhijeet, who is an engineering graduate and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute direction & screen-play diploma filmmaker, has developed the satire from the absurd idea with renowned actor Manoj Pahwa in his mind for the SRFTI diploma film. He also hailed the learning experience of working with senior actor Pahwa, who worked without any fees as he liked the script.

“Working with renowned actor Pahwa, is very helpful for me as I want to work in the industry. He understood my vision and without any attitude issue, put in deep efforts to execute the story in the best manner. I saw in him tremendous passion for rehearsal despite having done many films. He brought in detailed notes on daily basis where every expression was discussed. That taught me a lot of aspects about working with seasoned actors! I hope the audience appreciates the finer nuances of improvisation and characterisation,” explained Abhijeet, who is now based in Mumbai.
