FC Goa has made a strong start against Mohun Bagan Super Giant as ISL 2023-24 action returns to Nehru Stadium at Fatorda after a long gap of over a month. A win here and the Gaurs will top the table and also continue their unbeaten record in the ISL this season.

The Gaurs captain Brandon Fernandes is celebrating a special occasion as he makes 100th appearance in the Indian Super League.

The home team has held an edge over Mohun Bagan Super Giant with eight goal-attempts and free-flowing attacking football. Three shots were on target with Carlos Martinez Rodriguez also hitting the crossbar with an header of a freekick by Brandon.

FC Goa also appeared to be denied of a legitimate goal as Odei Onaindia hooked the ball at the near post and the ball rebounded off rival goalkeeper Vishal Kaith onto the goalpost and into the Mohun Bagan net. However, the goal was disallowed. At the other end, FC Goa goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh did very well to parry the shot by Dimitrios Petratos, who was eyeing the top left corner.
