The Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association (MESA) of Goa College of Engineering (GEC), in collaboration with the Department of IT, Electronics & Communications, Government of Goa, is currently hosting TORQUE 2025, a two-day national-level technical event.
Taking place at GEC, Farmagudi, the event brings together aspiring engineers and industry experts to explore advancements in mechanical engineering, robotics, and emerging technologies. The event was inaugurated by the Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Printing and Stationery, Government of Goa, Rohan A. Khaunte in the presence of Director of ITE&C Kabir Shirgaonkar; OSD to the IT Minister Neville Norohna; Principal of GEC Dr. M. S. Krupashankara; Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department Dr. Mahesh Dhawalikar; and MESA Staff Advisor Dr. Milind Sakhardande.
Speaking at the inauguration, minister Khaunte highlighted the evolving role of engineering and technology, stating: “TORQUE 2025 is a platform where young minds come together to showcase their creativity and technical expertise. Goa’s youth possess immense talent, and this event is a testament to their skills and innovation. Mechanical engineering evolves with IT, robotics, and new technologies, opening up exciting possibilities. Goa Engineering College has a long-standing legacy of producing top engineers, and through initiatives like Startup and IT policies, we are committed to creating new opportunities for students. Events like these enable us to engage with students, understand their aspirations, and strengthen the collaboration between the government and academia to drive technological progress.”

During the event, Khaunte also unveiled ‘NIRZER’, the annual magazine of the Mechanical Engineering Department, highlighting the innovations, research, and achievements of students and faculty.
TORQUE 2025 is a platform for future engineers to connect with industry experts, compete in technical events, and explore emerging technologies, reinforcing Goa’s focus on innovation and industry-academia collaboration.
