After 10 long years of hard work, Dr. Vaman Naik brought out Goa’s first Konkani dictionary on Economics; with the ‘Artha Shastra Bhasha Kosh’ being released on the occasion of Foundation Day of Goa Konkani Akademi (GKA) in Panaji on Monday.
Sahitya Akademi award-winning Goan writer Dr. Prakash Paryekar was also felicitated on the occasion. He advised the youngsters to work on their Konkani-writing skills as there is a lot of financial incentives now for literary work.
Dr. Bhushan Bhave in his talk, highlighted the opportunities for Konkani experts across all fields ranging from Translation/Environment/Forests/Culture/Media and many more. He also pointed out that it is time that an effort is made to list out Konkani words across all dialects in each of the 12 talukas of Goa. “This is the only way, we will be able to preserve Konkani language. Otherwise, it will be just a spoken language,” stressed Dr Bhave.
Editor of Prudent Media, Suyash Gaunekar guided the students about the necessity for multi-tasking and upskilling for better career prospects.
Acting President of GKA, Vasant Bhagwant Sawant; GKA Secretary, Meghna Shetgaonkar, and others were also present.
