KUNBI VILLAGE: HANDICRAFTS, TEXTILE, & COIR SECRETARY SUNEEL ANCHIPAKA & MD DR. AJAY GAUDE REVIEW PROGRESS OF WORK

Department of Handicrafts, Textile, and Coir (HT&C); and Goa Handicrafts, Rural & Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd, Government of Goa, project of ‘Kunbi village’ is being developed at Sanguem.

The project once complete, will be able to accommodate more than 200 artisans to train in Kunbi craft.

Secretary for HT&C, Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, along with Managing Director, Dr Ajay Gaude  visited the Kunbi village project and acquainted with the progress of work at the Village.

The project is designed to promote Kunbi textile and aid the weavers in their art and profession. The village shall have facilities like display and workshop blocks, storage areas, training and design areas, accommodation for artisans, classrooms and sales area.

The artisans shall have facilities to display their crafts, impart and receive training and sell their products. Dedicated areas for bamboo, pottery and coir crafts have been earmarked.
