NAVY WINDSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS: CLEAN SWEEP FOR GOA AS DAYNE COELHO & KEONA RAJANI CLINCH GOLD

PANAJI: Hosts Goa secured an impressive haul of gold medals at the Open Navy Windsurfing Championships 2021 with
Dayne Coelho, Keona Rajani, Avelino Fernandes, Pearl Colvalcar and Adarsh Chunekar completing a clean sweep of top prizes across all categories, at INWTC Chiaclim. With this incredible performance, local governing body for the sport in state – Goa Yachting Association has begun 2021 with a bang and the talented crop of sailors in Goa will be full of confidence for the challenges ahead as the pandemic declines and prospects brighten for regular sailing events.

In the RS:X Olympic category, Dayne took the gun in two races to secure his gold medal after enduring a struggle on the penultimate day where he had conceded ground to Ebad Ali. With this performance, Dayne signaled his strong comeback from injury and laid claim to his top spot in the national ranking. Ebad Ali and Jerome Kumar of Army Yachting Node took silver and bronze medal respectively.

Keona improved on her performance at the nationals in the month of November as she turned silver to gold in the RS:One Asian Games category.

On Saturday, Avelino and Pearl had ensured they finished with gold medals in the Techno 293 OD Youth Olympics category in the boys and girls category respectively. Adarsh had also secured gold in the Race board youth category with a day to spare, as he made a clean sweep by taking the gun in all the races.
