Goa probables commenced preparations for the new season earlier this week at Goa Cricket Association academy ground, Porvorim.

PANAJI: Amit Verma has been part of Goa’s Ranji Trophy team since the last two seasons as a professional player from Karnataka. The 33-year-old left-hander has seen it all in this time with the team suffering relegation from Elite Group C and forcing an immediate promotion to be back where they were when Amit, who also bowls leg break, had joined Goa.

With the state team going through a transition phase in this period, Amit has provided a cool-headed leadership and was delighted to have gained great support in the successful campaign in Plate group in 2019-20 season.

Opening up with his story so far and looking ahead to the upcoming 2020-21 campaign, Amit told www.livenewsgoa.com that he believes Goa have the potential to be successful in the new season as they have age on their side, provided the team repeats the gritty performance of last season.

Twenty-one year old Arjun Basu, son of strength and conditioning coach of RCB, Shankar Basu, is the new trainer of Goa Ranji Trophy team.
Having played for 15 years for Bengal, Dinda at 36, vouches for his supreme fitness as he is proud of having never missed a game through an injury problem.
Goa’s new wicket-keeper Eknath Kerkar is full of confidence as he approaches the start of Ranji Trophy 2020-21 season, looking to further his cricketing career in his ancestors’ state.
