PANAJI: Goa Liberation Day witnessed a 400km Brevets Randonneur Mondiaux (BRM) endurance cycle ride, organised by TriGoa Foundation. 31 cyclists successfully completed and one among them is Fintan Dourado from Margao, who is an experienced SR and is chasing his third SR title. He described the challenge saying: “The ride was pleasant up to Karwar, after which the strong headwinds made it very challenging. However, I still completed the ride with full, four hours to spare. I am hoping to secure my third, SR title with the 600km BRM ride on January 24.”
Rajdeep Quenim, who is aiming for his first ‘Super Randonneur’ title ( 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km cycle rides in one calendar year).
“The climate was superb but there were lot of headwinds after Cancona for 120 kms which made it a very tough ride compared to last 400 BRM we had done in March 2020,” said the Ponda-based cyclist.
The route taken progressed from Panaji-Loutolim-Margao-Karwar-Kumta-Honnavar route and returned via the Karmal Ghat-Cavelossim-Cansaulim-Dabolim-Panaji and the ride had to be completed within 27 hours.
“Endurance cycling allows us to meet many cyclists and each ride makes us mentally and physically very strong to face any problem of life,” added Rajdeep, who has been planning to complete a SR for the last five years.
All successful cyclists will be presented with an international medal and certification from the Audax Club Parisien (ACP), France. This Brevet de Randonneur Mondiaux( BRM) was the 3rd part of the coveted Super Randonneur title where cyclists have to complete a distance of 200, 300, 400 and 600kms in one calendar year.
