PANAJI: The inaugural edition of Manohar Parrikar Trophy T20 cricket tournament got underway at GCA academy ground, Porvorim, on Friday morning. The tournament, which runs till April 17, has been organised by Yuva de Goa in association with Pilerne Cricket Club.
The opening ceremony was graced by late ex-Defence Minister’s son Utpal Parrikar, who wished all teams good luck while he revealed that he gave his full backing to the tournament immediately on Yuva de Goa president Bhavesh Zambaulikar’s approach with the proposal to organise the event dedicated to the memory of the former Chief Minister.
Amogh Parrikar, Akhil Parrikar, Vipul Phadke, GCA secretary; Manoj Gawli of Esmeralda Group, Kishore Asnodkar, Bhavesh Zambaulikar and Yuva de Goa organising team members were also present for the inaugural function.
