Vihaan Tari and Krutika Aggarwal won Mangirish Youth Club All Goa U-9 State Chess Selection event in the Open and Girls category respectively. The tournament was organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association at Wagle High School, Mangeshi.
Rishit Gawas clinched the second position while Evan Antonio Telles finished third in the open category. Prayank Gaonkar, Shrinay Naik, Shresth Ghonsekar, Aarav Nagueshkar, Aryan Naik, Snithik Sinari and Aarav Prabhudessai secured 4th to 10th place respectively.
Over in the girls event, Shanvi Redkar got the second place, while Shinel Rodrigues finished third. Avani Sawaikar, Vania Dukle, Tvisha Dessai, Sidonia Dacunha, Shreesha Ghadi, Survi Keloskar and Drisha Ghonge secured 4th to 10th place respectively.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Aarav Naik, Joash Cardozo, Viyomi Parab, Aaradhya Dessai, Tansh Gaude, Siaan Kerkar, Amaira Borkar and Prarthana Maujekar.
President of Mangirish Youth Club, Damodar Naik was the chief guest for the Prize Distribution function. Also present were Mahesh Candolkar, president of Goa Chess Association; Ashesh Keni, secretary of Goa Chess Association; Sagar Sakordekar, president of Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Amogh Namshiker, secretary of Ponda Taluka Chess Association; Kunal Mangeshkar, sports secretary of Mangirish Youth Club, Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal and Ratnakar Pai, treasurer of Mangirish Youth Club.
