Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, women and M.E.S Vasant Joshi College Of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, men topped Goa University’s 36th Inter-Collegiate Athletics Championships 2023-2024.
Goa University organised the annual event from 23rd to 25th January, 2024 at S.A.G Athletics Stadium, Bambolim. Around 1000 athletes from 46 colleges affiliated to Goa University participated in this three days championship.
Prof. Harilal B. Menon, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, was the chief guest for the opening ceremony and inaugurated the said championship.
Like last year, this year also the championship saw the use of Photo-finish technology for all track events. Also in this year’s championships Mixed relay was included, which brings the total events to 40. On the first day of the championship, the track action witnessed a New Meet Record being created by 4x400m relay women’s teams of Govt. College, Quepem clocking the time 4:33.34.
The last day of the championship witnessed two meet record being created, one which was created in Hammer Throw (Men) by Rudra Bhosle of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Center, Assagao with a distance of 34.23 metres and another one in Heptathlon-Women by Ankita Gaonkar of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem by accumulating 2543 points.
The Best Athlete Male and Female of the championship title was awarded to Moses Mascarenhas of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao and Shimron Nathan of Don Bosco College, Panjim respectively.
Prof. Ramesh V. Pai, Dean, School of Physical and Applied Sciences, Goa University, graced the prize distribution ceremony as Chief Guest, who presented trophies and medals to the winners along with Balachandra B. Jadar, Asst. Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University.

Runners-Up: Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem
Second Runner-Up: Don Bosco College, Panjim
Women – Winners: Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem
Runners-Up: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim
Second Runner-Up: St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
