Goan villages – Cacra in Tiswadi and Arambol in Pernem, are part of the 100 Coastal villages to be developed as Climate Resilient Coastal Fishermen Villages (CRCFV) under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY); in a initiative of the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Department of Fisheries, New Delhi.
Under this scheme, Goa will receive complete Central Government funding with an allocation of Rs. 2 Crore per village dedicated to the development of essential Fisheries infrastructure and facilities.
Fisheries Minister Nilkant Halarnkar chaired a meeting with MLA of St Cruz, Rudolf Fernandes and Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar to discuss the CRCFV development initiative where 70% of cost is allocated towards infrastructure while 30% towards Fisheries Economic Activities as per the guidelines.
