DR. CARMO D’SOUZA MEMORIAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION: SALGAOCAR LAW COLLEGE ACHIEVES 1-2 FINISH, RAHUL RAO ADJUDGED ‘BEST ADVOCATE’

VM Salgaocar College of Law-Miramar emerged winners and runners-up at the Dr. Carmo D’Souza Memorial Moot Court Competiton (State-Level), held at GR Kare College of Law-Margao.

The winning team comprised Siddhant Shetye, Rahul Rao, and Saloni Parab; while the runners-up team was made up of Gautami Kamat, Riddhi Moghe, and Sakshi Volvoikar. Rahul Rao was adjudged the ‘Best Advocate.’

The competition, which was held in the memory of Late Prof. Dr. Carmo D’Souza – an academician, writer, and jurist; was organised by GR Kare College of Law Alumni Association in association with VM Salgaocar College of Law.

The preliminary and quarter-final rounds were held in both the Law colleges simultaneously on 15th October, 2022, which was judged by the practising advocates.

Two teams from the quarter-finals of each college competed in the semi-finals that was held on 22nd October, at GR Kare College of Law, Margao.

The students worked on two moot propositions, one for the preliminary and quarter-finals and another for the semi-finals and final.

Two teams of V M Salgaocar College of Law, qualified for the final. The final was adjudged by sitting Judges of High Court of Bombay at Goa, Justice Mahesh S. Sonak, and Justice Valmiki Menezes. The prizes were given at the hands of Justice Mahesh S. Sonak. The team forms part of the Moot Court Society at VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar; headed by Director, Dr. Aamod Shirali.
