GOA HOLD DELHI TO A DRAW IN 12TH SUB-JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AT PEDDEM

PANAJI: Hosts Goa produced a fighting 1-1 draw against Delhi to open their campaign on a morale-boosting note on the second day of 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men’s National Championship 2022 at Peddem AstroTurf, Mapusa, on Thursday.

Despite having various difficulties in their preparations for the first-ever nationals to be held at the newly-created AstroTurf facility, the Goa Team displayed a strong combination of determination and fitness to score a 1-1 draw in the peak afternoon clash against Delhi in Pool F.

Delhi’s Afridi gave his team the lead in the 10th minute. The scores were levelled by Anand Kumar in the 49th minute, to bring cheer into the hosts’ camp.

In the other games, Hockey Chandigarh beat Hockey Madhya Pradesh 6-1 in Pool H; Hockey Maharashtra beat Assam Hockey 3-2 in Pool H; Hockey Punjab beat Le Puducherry Hockey 25-0 in Pool F; Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Himachal 12-4 in Pool D.
