GOA JUDO CONTINGENT HEADS FOR CHENNAI FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The biggest-ever contingent of Goa Judo Association, comprising 33 Judokas and 6 officials, left from Margao Railway station, for Sub-Junior and Cadets National Judo Championship to be held in Chennai.

In a farewell fuction held at SAI STC Hostel at Peddem-Mapusa, chief guest Viddhyadhar Khandeparkar, account officer of SAI STC Hostel Peddem and Ponda, wished the squad best of luck and hoped that the team will return with medals.

Also present was Mapusa councillor and senior member of Goa Judo Association Ashirwad Khorjuekar, Vice-President Surendra Gauns, General Secretary Siddheshwar S Naik , SAI STC Hostel Coach Poonam Sharma; Pachori, SAG Coach Vishant Alekar and team officials.

Siddheshwar Naik informed that the number of Sub-Junior judokas has increased to 140 during State Championship held recently and it is a good sign for future of Judo in Goa.

According to the association, the team is very strong with Khelo India medallist Ima Patil and Kajal Bhosle in it. They believe that the team will come back with minimum 6 medals.
