PANAJI: Keona Rajani of Goa clinched a silver medal at the Senior National Sailing Championships in Mumbai. The Goa Yachting Association (GYA) sailor finished second in the RS:X women class. The 17-year-old consistently finished in second place in the first 10 races and took the gun in the last 2 races, but her overall position remained second.  Keona was youngest in her category event.

Meanwhile, Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 recipient Pearl Colvalcar (14) put up a valiant fight in Laser Radial women category to finish fifth as she competed against the best in the country some of whom were Asian Games medallists, fighting for top honours.

Pearl was the youngest sailor at the event and sailed well considering that all other competitors were established senior sailors and have been sailing the circuit for many years. Even against such odds, Pearl managed three 4th place and one 3rd place- finishes out of 12 races, according to a press note issued by GYA.
