Gram Nyayalaya, or “Village Courts,” is a judicial system established in India to ensure access to justice for rural populations. Introduced by the Gram Nyayalayas Act, 2008, this system aims to address the legal needs of those living in remote areas, where conventional courts may not be accessible.

The Gram Nyayalaya at Valpoi has jurisdiction over all the areas within the limits of the Gram Panchayats of Sattari Taluka. The Court can function as a mobile court at any place within the jurisdiction of such Gram Nyayalaya. The primary goal of Gram Nyayalayas is to provide a speedy and affordable means of resolving disputes at the grassroot level by bringing justice to the citizens at their doorstep and to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen without any discrimination on account of social, economic or other disabilities and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. The system also seeks to enhance legal awareness and empower villagers.
