In a significant step towards enhancing the educational infrastructure in the state of Goa, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy – Shripad Yesso Naik, handed over three school buses to educational institutions in Goa under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by HUDCO. The handover ceremony was held at Paryatan Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.
As part of the CSR initiative, HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd.) provided three fully-equipped school buses at a total cost of ₹75.33 lakh. This initiative aims to provide safe and reliable transportation to students, thereby supporting their access to education.
The beneficiary institutions and bus details are as follows:
• Shikshan Prasarak Sangh’s Shree Mahalaxmi English High School, Talauli, Ponda-Goa
• Bus Model: SML S7 5100 School Bus
• Capacity: 52 + 1 seater
• Beneficiaries: Approximately 422 students from Classes 1 to 10
• Gopalkrishna Vidhyaprasarak Sanstha’s Gopalkrishna High School, Sankhali-Goa
• Bus Model: SML S7 5100 School Bus
• Capacity: 52 + 1 seater
• Beneficiaries: Around 103 primary school students and 120 high school students
• Shantiniketan Education Society’s Vivekanand Higher Secondary School, Balli, Quepem-Goa
• Bus Model: SML S7 4240 School Bus
• Capacity: 42 + 1 seater
• Beneficiaries: Approximately 133 students of Classes 11 and 12
Present at the ceremony were Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director, HUDCO, New Delhi; Tekkam Sridhar, Senior Executive Director, HUDCO; and S. Gurudatta, Regional Chief, HUDCO Karnataka and Goa region.
Speaking on the occasion, MoS Naik emphasised the importance of quality education and the need for supportive infrastructure such as transportation. He lauded HUDCO’s commitment to social development and its contribution to uplifting the educational ecosystem in Goa through CSR initiatives.
