PANAJI: Sports Authority of Goa has introduced its first-ever ‘Learn to Play Online Series’, an unique initiative to promote sports coaching through online mode, given the restrictions during the ongoing pandemic.
The Online Sports Coaching module prepared by a team of experts, aims to develop interest among youngsters in the sport and to educate sports professionals, Physical Education Teachers, enthusiasts etc. on various coaching aspects of the sport. The online programme is a complete guide on the history of the sport, skill sets needed, techniques, equipment and covers various forms/ modules, states a press release.
In its first series, a ‘Cricket coaching online series’ was introduced. The programme was available for public view on the SAG Coaching Goa Youtube Channel https://youtu.be/zGnbHbfADYI. Four major sectors of the sport such as; batting, bowling, wicket-keeping and fielding were displayed.
The programme was launched at the hands of V. M.Prabhu Desai, Executive Director of the Sports Authority of Goa. Also present were Ashraf Pandial, Honorary Treasurer, SAG, Bruno Coutinho, Director – Coaching, Monica Dourado, Project Officer, Vasudev Bhandari, Asst.Accounts Officer, Steffi Cardozo, Asst.Project Officer, Sandeep Naik, Coaches Zone In-charge of III and NileshNaik, Coaches Zone In-charge 6.
V. M. Prabhu Desai congratulated the Coaching section for making available such novel mediums of coaching engagement and activities during the ongoing pandemic and appealed to youngsters, professionals and enthusiasts, to draw benefits of this programme.The programme aims to cover a total of 30 sports disciplines and is expected to benefits over thousands of youngsters.
