Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, and the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, announced that registrations are now open for the 25th edition of the TCS Rural IT Quiz program.
A part of the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2024, the quiz comprises of a combination of online tests, virtual and physical quiz rounds. Students from Classes 8 to 12 from smaller towns and districts across India are encouraged to participate. The quiz, however, is not open to schools within city corporation limits.
The TCS Rural IT Quiz will focus on the application of technology across various sectors and other aspects like the technology environment, business, its people, and new trends, including AI and cloud computing. It will also cover areas where IT has made an impact, namely banking, education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, advertising, sports, gaming and social networking, among others.
Eight regional finals will take place across India, with the winners progressing to the National Finals in Bengaluru in November 2024. All the regional winners and runners-up will receive gift vouchers of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively. The National winner and runner-up will additionally receive TCS education scholarships of Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. In its previous edition, the quiz attracted over 5.5 lakh participants from across 28 states and five Union Territories.
TCS has been organizing the Rural IT Quiz in association with the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, since the year 2000. The objective has always been to enhance IT awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts across India, keeping them abreast of the latest developments in the world of technology. The program has reached over 21 million students till date and is recognized by the Limca Book of Records as the first IT Quiz for rural students in India.
