VERMICOMPOSTING & IRRIGATION SYSTEM TRAINING BY AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AT BICHOLIM

PANAJI: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA)  under the guidance of Block Technology Manager (Bicholim), Ashweta Babani Pal conducted a training programe on preparation of vermicompost (गाधुय),  for Nari Shakti SHG at Kudchire recently.

The procedure to make vermicomposting was explained by Ashweta while the demonstration on how to fill the bag was done by Shital Degvekar, Assistant Technology Manager.

ATMA (North Goa) provided the group a vermicompost bag of 12 feet on demonstration basis. According to Ashweta, the vermicompost from one bag will be ready within 3 months and it is expected to yield 800 kgs minimum vermicompost. The market rate of vermicompost is Rs 20 per kg.

ATMA’S TRAINING PROGRAMME ON IRRIGATION SYSTEM

A training programme on irrigation system – foggers – was conducted at Airavat nursery Surla-Sanquelim. Ashish Rane conducted a demonstration on foggers installation.

All 10 nurseries set up under North-Goa’s ATMA-NABARD collaboration, were represented by their members for this training programme.

Project Director of ATMA (north), Dilip Paranjpe explained the gathering details about scope and future plans for nurseries, which raise seedlings and plants.

Satish Sawant from Registrar of Cooperative Soceities explained book-keeping method to all members. Govind Parab, Asst.  Agriculture Officer, informed the gathering the ways to keep in check the pests and disease management for crops in nurseries.

Vismita Marathe, Dy. Project Director, provided information about crops in nurseries. Block Technology Manager (Bicholim), Ashweta Babani Pal hosted the programme.
