PRIME MINISTER INTERNSHIP SCHEME (PMIS): DHE CONVENES GOA STATE COORDINATION MEETING

Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa, convened the Goa State  Coordination Meeting under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) on 24th April 2026 at the SCERT, Porvorim, Goa, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the effective implementation of the scheme across the State.

An overview of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, along with a detailed presentation on its implementation framework, was delivered by Prof. Niyan Marchon, Program Director and Professor, DHE, who also serves as the Goa State Nodal Officer for PMIS. The presentation outlined the objectives of PMIS, its significance in enhancing youth employability, reviews of PMIS Pilot 1 and 2 since 2024 and the strategic roadmap for its implementation as pilot 3 in the state of Goa.

The meeting featured a key address by Trupti Sharma, Registrar of Companies, ROC Goa, Indian Corporate Law Services (ICLS). She emphasised the importance of fostering stronger industry-academia linkages and highlighted the role of structured internship programmes in equipping students with industry-relevant skills.

The gathering also benefited from brief online addresses by Rutuja Bankar, Deputy Director and Nodal Officer, PMIS for Maharashtra and Goa, and Santosh Kumar, Regional Director (Western Region), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, who shared their perspectives on the initiative.

Representatives from key departments and institutions involved in the implementation of the scheme—including the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Directorate of Technical Education, Directorate of Education, Department of Labour & Employment, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Registrar of Companies (ROC) Goa, and the Department of Industries and Commerce—were present for the meeting. Internship Nodal Officers from 60 Higher Education Institutions, Engineering, Polytechnics, and ITIs were also in attendance.

An interactive session enabled participants to engage in discussions, seek clarifications, and share inputs on various aspects of the scheme’s implementation. The meeting served as an important platform for strengthening inter-departmental coordination and aligning efforts towards the successful execution of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme in Goa. Ainsley Bernard, Assistant Professor at DHE, delivered the Vote of thanks.
