VARSITY KHO-KHO DOUBLE CROWN FOR GOVT COLLEGE QUEPEM

Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, won both the men and women’s kho-kho championships 2022-23, organised by Goa University at SAG’s Fatorda ground from 17th to 19th January, 2023.

In the well-contested men’s championship final, GCQ defeated Shree Mallikarjun & Shri. Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, by a narrow margin of 2 points.

In the women’s championship final which was a repeat of the men’s matchup, the dominant GCQ defeated Shree Mallikarjun College by an inning and 8 points.

Earlier in the semi-finals of the women’s event, GCQ defeated Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Borim, by 7 points. Shree Mallikarjun College beat C.E.S. College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim, by innings and 1 point.

In the men’s semi-finals, GCQ got the better of C.E.S College, Cuncolim, by 1 point, while Shree Mallikarjun College trounced Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola, by an innings and 14 points.

In all, 18 men’s and 15 women’s teams participated in the three-day Inter College Kho-Kho Championship.

Caitano A. Clemento, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi Coach of Sports Authority of Goa, was the chief guest and presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-ups in the presence of other dignitaries. 

Govt. College Women’s team: Pramita Velip, Shilpa Velip, Chaya Patil, Ankita Gaonkar, Darshana Velip, Shejal Velip, Reshmila Mishra, Ankita Velip, Sweta Gaonkar, Neha Gaonkar, Dolly Fernandes, Mabel Vaz, Bhakti Patkar and Prarthana Velip.

Govt. College Men’s Team: Viresh Gaonkar, Dayesh Kakodkar, Pravin Gaonkar, Rohan Raikar, Raylon Cardozo, Mohit Deikar, Ashish Gaonkar, Lohit Vaddar, Balu Konkre, Sajan Velip, Pankaj Gaonkar, Yash Gaonkar and Utkarsh  Bhisaji
