PANAJI: Comebacks are never easy in cricket, but the determination shown by fit-again batsman Amogh Desai during the pre-season Ranji Trophy probables camp; has not only raised the hopes of the state cricket fraternity but has also delighted Goa coach Dodda Ganesh ahead of the 2020-21 season-opening Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

“Amogh has the potential to play in IPL and for India ‘A’ if he keeps believing in himself, ” former India cricketer D Ganesh told livenewsgoa.com before Team Goa  led by Amit Verma left for Indore for Elite Group D T20 competition.

Regarded as one of the brightest talent to have come into Ranji Trophy fold from the junior ranks over the last decade, Amogh (28) played a host of practice matches at Goa Cricket Association academy ground and even smashed a century in one of those outings after having meticulously endured the long road to recovery with tremendous support from GCA in particular. Out of action for over a year due to a major shoulder injury and subsequent surgery, the Margao-based all-rounder is raring to go in the first competition of BCCI First-Class season.

“I want to test my limits as a batsman. I want to lead from the front… I want to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for the team,” declared Amogh when asked what his frame of mind is like ahead of the first taste of high-profile action for the pandemic-ravaged season.
